The Effect of Value Clarification Training(VCT) on Nurses Job Stress and Organizational Commitment
¹Ú»ó¿¬
Abstract
The purpose of this was to examine the effect of Value Clarification Training
Program(VCTP) on hospital employed nurses¡¯ job stress and organizational commitment,
from which the result may be provided as a baseline data for improving the effectivenes s
of hospital organization and the quality of nursing care. The sample consisted 68 nurses
employed in one university hospital in Daegu city. Of which two groups of 15 nurses
volunteered for this study wer eassigned to experiment al program which was provided
once in a week for 8weeks and each program took between one and half hours and two
hours. The final sample of experimental group consisted 23 nurses, excluding 7 nurses who did not attend to all the program ses sions. Randomization was used to assign 38 nurses who did not participate in VCTP to control group. Research variables for this study were job stress and organizational commitment, and hypothesis of this study was t ested by ANCOVA.
The result of this study revealed that ther e wer e no significant differences between
experimental group and control group with regard to two dependent variables.
Considering the result reporting little improvement after VCTP, it is suggested that
replication of VCTP would be worthwhile as long as VCTP didn¡¯t cause extra work for
nurses, even though there were no significant effect of VCTP on nurses¡¯ job stress and
organizational commitment.
